Sunday, 19th August at 9pm

In the game of snakes and ladders
I just met the snake.
It was a cold, hard and swift fall.

The hurt must have been too great
At the bottom I stared for several seconds
"No, there was no way i could take this!"

Inside, the lonely child screamed.
She screamed with all her might
Longing for her woes to be heard

Outside, all there were was painful, muffled sobs
I struggled with all my might to contain them,
But my emotions just rushed out as tears

At that moment
I wished for someone to talk to
Just so someone could hear me out

There was no one i could turn to easily
Everyone's so busy with their studying,
I wouldn't want to trouble them with my minor insecurities

"If you ever need to talk, just call me ya?"
I did think of you
But i know as hell I had given you enough trouble alreday

Then she spoke
She thought that would do just fine
She was so wrong; it was not what I wanted

If only she could listen to me
Just once
That's all I ever wanted, all i ask of her.

In the end
I told not a single soul
It was soon over an hour later

Monday, 20th August at 6:20am

In the game of snakes and ladders
I will soon meet my ladder
It is waiting for me just round the corner

This post is divided into 3 sections.
1) Alternative National Day Song
3) The Coxford Singlish Dictionary

1) Alternative National Day Song

As soohuey has requested, i shall post another song parody =D
this one's a bit childish but still quite funny lol.

Drink Our Pee, Singapore
(to the tune of 'Count On Me Singapore')

We have refreshment for tomorrow
It's our pee, it's our pee
Straight from the bowls of Singapore
Drink your shee-shee, drink your shee-shee
You and me, we'll do our part
We'll try to pee, without a fart
We'll show Malaysia that we'd rather save mo-ney
And drink our pee, and drink our pee!

Why flush something down our bowl that is so tasty
It's eco-friendly, and comes straight from our kidney
There's a toilet over there
Let's make a drink that we can share
But we're going to call it something else that's more catchy
Instead of pee, instead of pee

Drink our pee, Singapore
Drink our pee, have a glass or more

Count on me, to help the state
It's patriotic to urinate
Let's all achieve the Singaporean dream
Drink from our stream, drink from our stream

Drink our pee, Singapore
Drink our pee, Singapore
Drink our pee, it's cheaper than Pepsi
Drink our pee, Singapore

Drink our pee, Singapore
Drink our pee, Singapore
Drink our pee, have a glass or more
Drink our pee, Singapore

Drink our pee together Singapore,
Drink our pee together Singapore,
Together Singapore, Singapore
Together Singapore, Singapore
Together Singapore, Singapore

It’s not enough if you pay taxes or carry a pink IC. To commemorate National Day, brings you a checklist to see how Singaporean you really are.

1. Thanks to SMS, you have an extra large thumb.

2. Tks 2 SMS, u oso dun no how 2 spel n e mor.

3. You pat MRT and bus seats to cool them before you sit down.

4. At lunch, you start discussing what to eat for dinner.

5. Your wedding photos include shots of you dressed up like Louis XIV, Michael Jackson, or Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in Titanic.

6. When speaking to foreigners, you somehow feel a need to adopt an accent. (If you’re a DJ, this happens even when you’re not speaking to foreigners.)

7. You won’t raise your voice to protest policies, but you’ll raise your fists to whack someone over Hello Kitty.

8. You’re forever talking about businesses you want to set up but will probably never get around to starting.

9. You don’t know ¾ of the people attending your wedding.

10. You separate food into 2 basic groups: ‘heaty’ and ‘cooling’.

11. You’re never completely sure how many times you’ve sung the second verse of the National Anthem.

12. You think that what makes you ‘married’ is not the legal registration but whether you’ve thrown a 12 course dinner.

13. You marry for the real estate breaks.

14. You have kids for the tax advantages.

15. You move to where you want your child to go to school.

16. You feel you can’t walk around naked in your own flat.

17. You force your children to take Speech & Drama classes, but pray they won’t wind up in Arts later on.

18. You suddenly realize you’re very interested in biotech - just like you suddenly realized three years ago that you were very interested in e-commerce, and before that, engineering, and before that, medicine and law.

19. You think being an entrepreneur is setting up a bubble tea/Portuguese egg tart/gao luck/porridge shop right next to an existing bubble tea/Portuguese egg tart/gao luck/porridge shop.

20. You think people are inconsiderate when they don’t leave their table immediately after eating at the food court but think you have every right to take 25 bites to finish the last red bean in your ice kachang.

21. You find it impossible to make suggestions without drawing a fishbone chart first.

22. If you’re a guy, whenever you get together with your guy friends, you invariably trade army stories.

23. If you’re a girl, whenever you get together with your girl friends, you invariably trade stories about how your stupid guy friends are forever trading army stories.

24. You think the most important sporting event in Singapore this year was David Beckham switching from Manchester United to Real Madrid.

25. You somehow feel that food tastes better when eaten by a longkang.

26. It actually makes a difference to you being called an ‘NSMan’ rather than a ‘Reservist’.

27. You’ve eaten more times at the Esplanade than you’ve actually seen shows there.

28. You need campaigns to tell you how to be courteous, to flush toilets, have sex, etc.

29. When you visit the Zoo, you wonder what the animals taste like.

30. You feel the urge to add the suffix ‘-polis’ to everything, viz. Biopolis, Airtropolis, Fusionopolis, Entrepolis, etc.

31. You always feel oddly hungry at 11 pm, and are willing to drive to far away places for supper.
32. You meet in hotels a lot.

33. Your children have a rudimentary knowledge of Tagalog or Bahasa Indonesia.

34. You work at McDonald’s when you’re old rather than young.

35. You’ll gladly spend $50,000 on a car, but will go to great lengths to save a few bucks on ERP charges or even a few cents on a parking coupon.

36. Pork floss and mayonnaise on bread is a completely natural combination to you.

37. If you’re pregnant, you have the strange ability to make people on the MRT fall asleep instantly.

38. You ask for the bill by miming a signing movement.

39. You’ve started referring to foreign employees as ‘talent’ instead of ‘expatriates’.

40. At the dinner table, you’re always discussing which other food places serve better versions of what you’re eating.

41. You copy down licence plate numbers of cars involved in accidents.

42. You think your boyfriend doesn’t really love you unless he gives you part of his liver.

43. During sales, you book hotel rooms near malls to enable you to shop more efficiently.

44. You pronounce the letter ‘R’ as ‘ah-rer’ and the letter ‘H’ as ‘haytch’.

45. No matter how old you are, you keep associating people with their secondary schools. (alternative: No matter how old you are, you secretly need to know what other people got for their PSLE, O levels and A levels.)

46. You’re always on a quest for the definitive version of your favourite local dish.

47. When you explain things to people, you keep (a) using alphabets, and (b) speaking in point form.

48. You believe that you can generate ‘creativity’ through rules and committees.

49. You ‘chope’ a seat by placing a packet of tissues on the chair.

50. You’re very forthright with your criticisms of the Gahmen, unless there’s a chance they might actually hear you.

51. You diligently track the whereabouts of your favourite hawkers, know that the famous Tiong Bahru Bao is now in Jurong, the famous Outram Char Kuay Teow is now in Hong Lim Centre and the famous Lau Hock Kien Hokkien mee from the old Lau Pa Sat is now at Beach Road.

52. Your mother probably can’t speak your ‘mother tongue’.

53. You’d rather drink your own pee than pay someone more for water.

54. You secretly find that the best part of the Speak Good English Movement is hearing the Singlish bits in their ads.

55. You have an automatic sensor in your head which categorizes people you meet into stayer/ quitter, cosmopolitan/heartlander, normal/ express/ gifted, etc.

56. You think we’re living in a modern, sophisticated country even when our leaders still insist on wearing their school uniforms.

57. You wish your constituency is in a walkover, because otherwise it’s damn ‘leceh’.

58. During elections, you decide that there is no credible opposition even though you don’t know the name of the opposition candidate in your constituency.

59. You think having a constitution is like the condition you get when you don’t eat enough fibre.
60. You can never quite remember what “the core values” of Singaporeans are.

Happy National Day from the folks at!

3) The Coxford Singlish Dictionary

if you're up for some laughs, check out The Coxford Singlish Dictionary
it has really hilarious entries of singlish and other terms.
here's a preview!

STER (Contributed by Kok Leong)
An army suffix, attached to verbs to describe their perpetrators, e.g. someone who ‘kengs’ (malingers) is a ‘kengster’, while someone who ‘tuangs’ (skives) is a ‘tuangster’. A lesser form than ‘king’ as in ‘tuang king’ or ‘keng king’.
“Eh, all you kengsters! Don’t pretend-pretend you sick so you can stay back and tuang, ah!”
See also: King Keng Tuang

BAK CHEW TAK STAMP (Contributed by Sian Tao Ong) ALVIN'S FAV.
Classic Singlish hybrid of Hokkien and English. Literally translates as "eyes have been pasted over with a stamp", meaning to be blind.
"How can you step right onto that big pile of kao sai (dog shit)? You bak chew tak stamp, is it?"

To apply white correction fluid over an error. "Blanco" is actually the trademark name of a long-established whitening liquid.
"No need to get me a new form. I'll just blanco over the old names."

For some reason, “to lend”.
“Eh, can borrow me your book?”

Singlish pronunciation of 'civil servant'. One of the few Singlicisms that actually makes better sense than the original.

Get Fuzzy never fails to make me laugh.

9:43 pm

There's nothing wrong with being a Singaporean who tells the truth =)

Parody of "Singapore Town"
funny and true!!

You could take a little trip around Singapore town
In a Mercedes or Rolls Royce
To watch your money get eaten up
As you go pass under the ERP

Because it's Singapore, Singapore,
Where the cheques is fat and money flows
Because it's Singapore, Singapore,
Where the money goes, only we know.

There's air tax and GST
And not to mention the 5Cs
Marriage comes with a fee

Because it's Singapore, Singapore,
We're overcharged right here and there
Because it's Singapore, Singapore
You'll find happiness, when there are sales.

Sentosa is boring
Little to do and not cheap
They have a kiddie roller coaster
Beats me, who can sit that

Because it's Singapore, Singapore
The prices high and the rides are bad
Because its Singapore, Singapore

Some places closed down; how very sad (in a tone of sarcasm)
There's nothing to do here
It's parks and sites everywhere
No little wonder the people work very hard'
Cause there isn't much for them to do

Because it's Singapore, Singapore
We work and work from nine till five
Because it's Singapore, Singapore
You just watch one day, we won't survive

The schools think our brains larger
They cram things into our heads
Most of them are just useless pieces of knowledge
How to use this to earn bread

Because it's Singapore, Singapore
They cut the syllabus, that's all
Because it's Singapore, Singapore
From the HDB flats, most people fall.
Because it's Singapore, Singapore
You pay and pay wherever you go
Because it's Singapore, Singapore,
You're sure to find debtors, who can't pay up.
Because it's Singapore, Singapore,
A country without any fall
Because it's Singapore, Singapore
It's damn very hot, twelve months in all.

In lieu of the National Day Propaganda Parade,
i shall be patriotic and post on of the song lyrics,
used to be entitled "We are Singapore"
however someone(not me hor) changed the lyrics.
as a joke.
dun sabo me.

We Are Chin Kang Kor
(to the tune of 'We Are Singapore')

There was a time when people said our bus fares won't increase
But it did
There was a time when people thought our CPF won't decrease
But it did
We built a nation,
With nothing free,
Reaching out together,
To grab all our mo-ney

Chorus 1:
This is my country, this is my flat
Is there a future, or am I mad?
What of my family, what of my friends?
We are chin kang kor, chin kang kor eh lang

Singapore, our homeland
Is ruled by one party
They've just stuck us with some more
Bloody GST
We worked so hard together,
What have we achieved?
Singapore forever,
Stuck with price increase

(Repeat Chorus 1)

We, the citizens of Singapore
Pledge ourselves as one diffi-cult people
Regardless of haze, weather or pollution
To complain about it equally
Whether statement, law or policy
Because we have much
That we cannot
Express through elections

Chorus 2:
We are chin kang kor, we are chin kang kor
We will stand together and complain some more
We are chin kang kor, we are chin kang kor
We will kau peh kau bu, then kau peh some more

(Repeat Chorus 1 & 2)

We are chin kang kor, chin kang kor eh lang (x2)

well, just for laughs =)

*sniffs* *coughs*
been ill for so long =/ guess i'm really quite worn out.

pulled through monday and tue, really reached the max.
finally getting a rest =)

Watched DISTURBIA today.

"Every killer lives next door to someone"

i must say it is really a good film worth the money (my dearest 8 bucks)
watch it if you want to know more.
it's soooooooo much better than Alone. seriously.
we got out of the cinema still feeling slighty chilled, but nevertheless satisfied.
Shia LaBeouf has done it man.
always with hot girls.
makes me want to watch Transformers (yea i know, i know, i haven't watched it yet =/)

"Now i shall spy on that hot girl next door with my stylo-milo binos!! hehehe..."

went to NTU after the show.
felt a little out of place, esp ke, who was in uniform.
hahah. serves you right =P
because of certain unforeseened circumstances, i believe i kind of "exercised" a lot walking about in NTU.
so many up-hill paths =.=

and i guess i'm starting to weaken =(
i'm getting the same old prob for PE again.
just yesterday, abit of running about was enough to make me dizzy and nauseous
i miss floorball. =(
i miss being star keeper =(
i hate handball.
i wish i'll stop whining.

so seriously and irritatingly SICK.
hope i don't have to go to school on monday.
i seriously hate the lessons.

Is this It?

It must be It.

yupp. i guess that's it.
it didn't go as badly as i thought it would be, so i'm glad =)
i can finally concentrate on what is of upmost importance now and move on!
i'm starting to focus on studying, and eating less.
i guess what i'm really trying to do is to occupiy myself with things so that i don't wander off track.
However, i feel totally drained today.
Don't really feel like laughing, or smiling.
Must be the lack of sleep again =(
Didn't go to sch ytd, and doctor says i need to rest more. blehh.
headache gone, headache back, headache gone and back again.
it's getting so bloody irritating i wanted to chop my own head off. O.o
(okay that was a bit exaggerated haha.)
but really don't feel very good these feel days..
feel so.. ugh. sick.

i've discovered quite recently..
that i don't have a best friend, or true friend, or whatever you call it.
the one who is always there to listen to your problems, laugh and joke with you, do things to cheer you up, and the one who, whenever you've got something to tell, you want that person to be the first to know.
my friends seem to be all hanging out friends, like in school, maybe we talk about general issues and all and have fun with each other, but don't really go deep.
and well, they alreday have their best friends, mostly from primary or secondary sch.
i looked at myself and found none. (how sad)
maybe it's just because we haven't really known each other for that long yet, who knows.
but i really missed the time when i had ivan for my best friend.
we would chat all day, share new stuff with one another; troubles, happy moments, new discoveries and what not.
but somehow we drifted apart, to the extent that we are almost "hi-bye" only.
thinking back i didn't know how it happened, but it just did.
he drifted, and i let him go. (sounds so BGR, but it's really not.)
but i guess its really true that "it's better to have had and lost, than to never have at all"
though seriously, deep from the bottom of my heart, i would give more than anything to have just one true friend.
gosh i seem so desperate, but i mean it.
oh hell.

anyways, f*** school.
other than the friends, i find no meaning in going to school.
even the friends are almost disappearing.
